Q: Is your e-Prescribing software expensive?
A: This is our most asked question. In short, no. We offer very competitive rates with no hidden fees. We offer a free 30 day trial and then your choice of month to month or annual subscription.
Q: Do I have to pay more for staff members to use your e-Prescribing system?
A: No, you only pay per provider. Additional staff can use our e-Prescribing system at no extra charge.
Q: What if I don’t like your ePrescribing system? Do I have to sign a long-term contract?
A: You can pay month to month so you can stop using it whenever you want – no need to pay for a whole year or more upfront.
Q: I’ve seen other e-Prescribing systems offered for free. Why should I pay to use your e-Rx system?
A: Sometimes it’s true that you get what you pay for. For a small monthly fee you gain access to our e-Prescribing system which is feature-rich, easy to use, secure, reliable, and comes with a great support team. Not to mention, we will never pressure you to buy anything more or display advertisements for other products on our site or sell your data.
Setup
Q: How do I sign-up? Is it a long process?
A: It’s very easy – Most providers can get setup in less than a day (and can be e-prescribing same day!). You would first fill out our Free Trial request here on our website (or just give us a call!) You will then get an account created with your own secure logins. Each prescriber will go thru a quick setup process (usually only takes about 15 minutes) which checks credentials and does id-proofing security. It is all online and streamlined.
Q: Am I limited to ePrescribing on only one computer?
A: No, because it is web based you can access our ePrescribing system and ePrescribe on any number of desktop computers, laptops or tablets wherever you are. Even use your smart phone (iPhone, Android, etc) with our Phone App (found in app stores)
Q: I already have an EHR or PMS we use – will this work with it?
A: Yes, you can even pass data between your other system and our e-Prescribing system so that you don’t have to re-enter patients’ data depending on your EHR's export capabilities.
Q: I don’t have an EHR – do I need one for this to work?
A: No, this can be used completely stand-alone with nothing else needed. In fact, starting with our e-Prescribing system is a great stepping stone for offices not quite ready to use a full EHR system.
Q: Will we have to enter all of our patients into your eRx system?
A: It depends on the software you have now. We offer a free HL7 interface and a patient upload. If your front office system has an HL7 or patient export you will not have to re-enter your patients into MDToolbox.

Q: Is this a complicated system that will take a long time to learn how to use?
A: Our e-Prescribing system was designed with ease of use in mind. It’s very straightforward and easy to learn. Our prescribers are e-sending prescriptions minutes after first use. We also offer simple training videos and user guides to help and if you think you might need extra training, we can also setup personalized trainings for no extra charge. Most practices are up and writing prescriptions less than 30 minutes after startup.
Q: Does it take a long time to write a prescription?
A: No! We designed it to be faster than grabbing your prescription pad! You can write a new prescription in 3-clicks, write a favorite in 1-click as well as refill a prescription in 1-click.
Q: Can I create favorite lists?
A: Yes, each provider can create their own favorite lists as well as use shared practice wide favorite lists. The Favorites list can include full written out prescriptions ready for use across patients and also favorite sigs for super quick selection.
Q: What if I need help – will I be able to talk to support?
A: Yes, our friendly support team is here to help you with your ePrescribing needs. We have a team that works here in the U.S. answering chat, phone and emailed questions.
Q: How secure is your e-Prescribing system?
A: Very secure – MDToolbox Rx is HIPAA Compliant and resides on SAE-16 Certified Servers: PHI data is protected and encrypted at all times.
Q: Can I send electronic prescriptions to any pharmacy?
A: Our network includes about 98% of the Pharmacies in the U.S. Over 70,000 retail and mail-order pharmacies nationwide.
Q: Can I see a patient’s prescription history?
A: Yes, you can both enter history on file at your office, plus you can view and even import into your system the patient’s historical prescriptions on file at Pharmacies and Insurance Companies participating in the history program.
Q: Can I use it in X browser?
A: Our e-Prescribing system has been optimized for all major browsers: Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, Chrome, etc.
Q: I use another e-Prescribing system that goes down a lot – is this one the same?
A: No, we pride ourselves in being reliable and having a 99.999% up-time so you never have to worry about if you will actually be able to use our e-Prescribing system or not (7 days a week, day or night).
Q: Can I electronically receive refill requests from pharmacies?
A: Yes, with our e-Prescribing system you are able to receive and respond to any refill requests a pharmacy sends.
Q: Are there interaction alerts?
A: Yes, there are customizable alert levels for drug-drug, drug-condition, drug-allergy, therapeutic, and discontinued that you can set however you prefer.
Q: Can I turn off the interaction alerts?
A: Yes, each prescriber can set their own alert level - Only get alerts when you want them.
Q: Can I send multiple prescriptions at one time?
A: Yes, our ePrescribing system allows you to be able to electronically send several prescriptions at the same time. Using your favorite lists you can even write more than one prescription at a time. You can write and send prescriptions in 3 clicks.
Q: Can I send controlled substance prescriptions?
A: Yes, our ePrescribing system is certified to send controlled substance prescriptions in all 50 states
Q: Do I qualify for the CMS e-Rx incentive or MIPS / MU program if I use your software?
A: Yes, we are Meaningful Use Stage 3 certified for the e-Prescribing Modules. You can claim e-Prescribing if you are participating in certain CMS incentive programs.
