Mandatory EPCS in Illinois

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker signed House Bill 3596 into law on July th, 2021. This Act requires prescribers to electronically prescribe all controlled substance prescriptions by January 1st, 2023 in an effort to combat opioid abuse and addiction.

Illinois Controlled Substances Prescription Monitoring

All prescribers and dispensers are required to consult the state PMP prior to prescribing or dispensing any controlled substance.

Illinois does not currently offer an integration with their Controlled Substances PMP. Through an integration, prescribers can go directly to the patient's PMP report without having to log in to the PMP and search for the patient.
