Mandatory e-Prescribing in Florida

Florida House Bill 831 was enacted on June 18th, 2019 and mandates that all prescriptions be electronically prescribed. The effective date is either July 1st, 2021, or upon license renewal (beginning January 1st, 2020) whichever comes first. This was a bipartisan initiative that was amended multiple times in both the Florida House and Senate in an effort to combat opioid abuse and addiction.

Florida Controlled Substances Prescription Monitoring

Prescribers and dispensers are required to consult the state PMP, E-FORCSE, prior to prescribing or dispensing a controlled substance other than certain Schedule V drugs.
