Mandatory e-Prescribing in Florida

Florida House Bill 831 was enacted on June 18th, 2019. The effective date is either July 1st, 2021, or upon license renewal (beginning January 1st, 2020). This was a bipartisan initiative that was amended multiple times in both the Florida House and Senate in an effort to combat opioid abuse and addiction.

Prescribers and dispensers are required to consult the state PMP prior to prescribing or dispensing a controlled substance other than certain Schedule V drugs.
